The prisoner of war camp at Ingolstadt in Bavaria took mainly French POWs but from Albert’s account and the Red Cross Records it is evident there were British and other nationalities held there too.
This is one of the photographs found with Albert’s personal documents. We have little information about who they may be except a message on the reverse:
Souvenir d’un camarade Schmitt
Schmitt Etienne
14 Boulevard
du Congo
Vichy
Allier
Could Etienne Schmitt be the man indicated by the cross at the bottom of the photo?
